Repair file system remount rw




















I am going to open the box up tonight and check all of the connections. I am afraid it may be a bad hard drive. Are there any other checks or fixes that might work?

Do a "man mount" and lookup the "remount" and "rw" options. Yeah, well, I disagree with closing sysadmin questions, but not enough to get into a re-opening war with people. Get a live disk and boot the distribution on the cdrom.

Trying to remount the file system will not work, because you cannot un-mount root. You need to use the -u option to change the options of an already mounted file system.
