I've created a set of batch files following that guide, to semi-automate things for someone that wanted the codecs minus the bloat, and by keeping user registration data does not require any cracking.

I can't image one would have to go through all this trouble if you have a copy of the FULL tmt3 package? Uninstall TMT3, restart, restore the codec folder and the checkactivate. This should be enough right? There is absolutely no reason to go through all this trouble, other than a psychedelic no-cracks allowed policy. It was intended only for users that had a registered version of TMT2 in the past and now have switched to TMT3 to find a missing functionality.
Both methods breaks the User Licence Agreement, but the later is doing it less, common sense wise :D ArcSoft TMT2 officially supports using the codecs with DirectShow, while TMT3 no longer allows that by removing the activation runtime from the package - it's an added "mechanism used to restrict or control the functionality of the Software" described in the User License Agreement.
One may argue that this last change is against common sense. You should know that the activation runtime is more complex than a single checkactivate.
I only posted after reading the Disclaimer that made it look as if it was not a crack. I guess I was jealous because whenever I stumble upon something I open a command prompt first instead of opening a programming ide. And no, it does not use a cracked version, it uses files from TMT3 and a very old checkactivate. If this is what you're thinking:If it's trialware there is nothing illegal or wrong with it.
Trialware is freely available to anyone. You should not take he's words for it because it's more of the same thing - still against ULA. I don't know if it will work with eac3to for example. In comparison to vladd's procedure, the Arcsoft package posted in the eac2ac3 thread requires much fewer number of files.
Is it possible that this version of checkactivate. It's a crack that still requires a paid-for TVT license, so I would have no moral problem with it. The legalities are up to the user to deal with. My opinion may not be that of the board's at large. However I would probably disassemble both and check every change to make sure there was nothing malicious first. It's common sense.. It's that simple. None of the dll's have been manipulated, nothing has been "cracked" and if anyone has any doubt in their mind then feel free to download both TMT2 and TMT3 and do hash checks on all the files I posted.
Also as an added bonus, the definition for crack: "To copy commercial software illegally by breaking cracking the various copy-protection and registration techniques being used. Copying dll's from one folder to another even in "trial" mode doesn't constitute cracking as per my understanding.

My decoder pack and instructions refer strictly to eac3to usage. Thanks dansrfe. To summarise: 1. This version of checkactivate. You're wrong. I rewrote the APIs myself using my own code. Just compare the file file size with that of ArcSoft's and you will see that. What most people would call a crack would either be a program which modifies the original file or a pre-modified version of the original file, neither of which describes this and only the latter is illegal.
